Coach Matt
Coach Matt grew up in a large family with eight brothers and sisters and has been around kids his whole life. He has taught hundreds of children how to swim. His teaching background is extensive having taught infants, adults, and kids
Coach Matt started as a junior instructor at 15 and put himself through college teaching and coaching swimming. He has a strong competitive swimming background having coached two undefeated summer league teams in Colorado and was a captain on his high school swim team.
"I am very passionate about the sport of swimming and working with kids. I taught both of my kids to swim from the time they were infants. My son Michael finished 2nd in the state of North Carolina in 3 events at the long course state championships as a 10 year old in 2007, USA Swimming . He was also the high point winner at the Cary Invitational in 2005 & 2007. His sister Morgan, age 8, was the 2nd place high point winner at the Southern Wake, S.W.I.M. Invitational in 2006."

Coach Lizzy

Lizzy is a native of Cary, NC. She swam competitively for Raleigh Swimming Association, Lochmere swim team and was the captain of her high school swim team. She graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2007 where she was a member of the varsity swim team and crew team.
After returning to NC she went on to coach all three teams that she was a member of during childhood, giving her experience coaching swimming at all levels. She also has 5 years of experience teaching group and private lessons to children ages 4-12.
“Swimming has always been and always will be a huge part of my life. It is something that I am passionate and enthusiastic about and I strive to pass the same feelings towards the sport on to my students and athletes.”

Coach Drew

Drew has 15 years of competitive swimming and 5 years of lifeguarding, coaching and teaching experience.
A dramatic fall into his grandparents’ pool at age 4 was the start to Drew’s competitive swim career. Drew grew up swimming year round with a highly competitive team in Minnesota.
He moved to North Carolina and continued to swim year round with RSA and the Cary High School swim team where he was the team captain and gained eligibility to state qualifiers. He began also swimming for the Weatherstone neighborhood swim team and became the assistant coach. He was promoted to head coach and took his team to an undefeated record of 6-0.
While he was coaching he also taught private swim lessons. He taught stroke development and techniques to children aging from 4 to 17 years. Drew is looking forward to joining the Triangle Swim School family. He currently enjoys swimming weekly for his own fitness and to maintain his skills at the Triangle Aquatic Center.

Coach Laura
Laura grew up in Long Island, New York and began swimming competitively at the age of 5. She swam for her middle and high school teams and started teaching swim lessons on Saturdays while in high school. Laura went on to swim at Fairmont State College in West Virginia, and coached age group swimming for Fairmont Swim Club. After college she returned to Long Island and began teaching swimming lessons full time at Saf-T-Swim Swim School for five years.
Laura has a passion for working with children both in the water and on dry land. She also teaches preschool at Kim’s Kids Preschool in Benson, NC. Laura has been married for 11 years and has two children.

Coach Susie

Susie started her interest in teaching at 15 when she helped with swim lessons at the local pool in Erie, PA. She taught lesson through high school and college. At Grove City College, she participated in the synchronized swimming program.
After getting married and having two boys, she returned to teaching when her boys were old enough to swim. A second move to Roanoke, VA lead her to teaching in a very successful program with the Roanoke City School district. Coach Susie was also involved in the RVAA Summer swimming program as an adult competitor and the organization’s secretary. The past two summers have been spent with the Forest Hills Swim Club coaching and teaching the 6 and under swimmers.
Susie is thrilled to bring her enthusiasm and creativity to the Triangle Swim School.

Coach Stewart

Stewart is a recent graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He was a member of the Varsity Swimming & Diving team and was a four year letter winner. After walking on to the team his freshman year, he earned a scholarship before his final season. Although he was never the biggest or the most talented swimmer, he proved to be a dedicated technician to each of his strokes and by his final year, he became a key contributor to the team.
He is currently a commercial banker with SunTrust Bank. After coaching part-time with RSA in January and February of 2008, he left the club to pursue his career in banking but has recently decided to come back to the sport on the weekends.
”I have spent way too many years involved with the sport to just leave it so soon. I hope to help others reach their goals and have fun along the way.”

Coach Elyse

Elyse grew up in Apex, NC and has been swimming most of her life. She attended Fuquay-Varina High School where she swam competitively for all four years. She was also a lifeguard during her last two years of high school.
Elyse recently graduated from Meredith College where she received her bachelor’s in Art Education. She is currently working as an art teacher in Wake County where she enjoys teaching and inspiring young minds. She has always had a desire to work with children, teaching her two favorite subjects, art and swimming.
As a new team member of Triangle Swim School, Elyse is looking forward to making her desire to teach swimming to children a reality!

Coach Shawn
Shawn grew up the oldest of 5 children in Woodcilff Lake , NJ , and began teaching swim lessons at age 13. He swam and dove competitively, and coached summer swimming and diving teams while attending college.
He moved to NC in 1991 after 6 years in the Navy and began teaching swim lessons at Cary Family YMCA after work for fun. “I forgot how much I loved teaching swimming until started doing it again. If I won the lottery tomorrow I’d still be teaching somewhere, it’s what I love to do.”
For the past two years Shawn has been the swim lesson coordinator/instructor at Cary Swim Club during the summer. He has taught group and private lessons to all age groups and skill levels, but his favorite thing is working with children and adults who are very anxious and uncomfortable in the water.Teaches - 3/4 YR Olds, 5/6 YR Olds, 7 & UP
Coach Tim
Tim has lived in Cary, North Carolina his whole life. He first started swimming when he was 8 years old for Cary Swim Club where he grew to love and enjoy the sport. He began swimming year round 2 years later for Raleigh Swimming Association in 2003.
Tim currently goes to school at Cary Christian, where he has swam for their varsity swim team since it started in his 8th grade year. In 2010, Cary Christian men won their conference meet and Tim was awarded the NCISAA Swimmer of the Year. He hopes to continue swimming through college.
He started working as a junior instructor with Triangle Swim School in August 2009. He has worked under coach Lizzy and coach Drew with all different levels and ages of kids ranging from level 1 to level 4. "Swimming is a big part of my life and I hope to pass on my love of the sport to all the kids that I teach in my classes.”

Coach Erin

Erin has lived in North Carolina her whole life and has been swimming since the age six on her neighborhood swim team. She is currently in high-school and hopes to become a teacher in the near future. Erin enjoys working with children and helping them learn new things.
Erin began as a Junior Instructor for Triangle Swim School in 2009. Her specialty is working with younger children. She also enjoys working with babies and toddlers in the "Baby & Me" and "Supertots" classes. Erin is excited for what the furture brings and impacting more lives of our children.
"I love it when parents tell me that their children have been looking forward and talking about swim class all day! It really shows how excited and willing to learn the kids are! Classes give me something to look forward to; I like watching the progression of each child through the sessions."

Coach Alicia
Alicia is a native North Carolinian and has been in the water her whole life. Alicia’s number one form of stress-relief is laps! Her love of swimming led her to teach both of her children (now 19 and 20) to swim laps by age 3 and dozens of other children at their summer swim club. Now an empty nester, Alicia is excited to help other young children learn to love the water.
In her everyday life, she is a journalist, cookbook author, food blogger and photographer. She also is a part-time nanny to a precious 2 year old and besides swimming, enjoys painting and gardening.

Coach Shannon
Shannon is a native North Carolinian whose love of swimming was sparked by her neighborhood swim team. In the past, Shannon swam with RSA and on the Panther Creek High School Swim Team. Her talents with children have been naturally developed as the oldest of four children. Shannon is currently a Junior at Panther Creek and cross trains by running track and cross country. She truly embraces each swimmer with their current skills and strives to improve each while fostering their love of swimming.Teaches - 3/4 YR Olds, 5/6 YR Olds
Coach Ryanne

Ryanne grew up by the beach in Wilmington, NC and was in the water before she could crawl. She began swimming competitively at the age of 5 for a summer league and loved being a part of the team until she graduated high school. She also swam for the varsity team while in high school and the swim club at Elon University. There she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and moved to Apex to begin her teaching career.
Ryanne has a passion for children of all ages. She has taught fourth grade for three years and currently works as a nanny, where she is enjoying teaching the children she watches to swim. She hopes to continue teaching in the Wake County area while growing her art and photography portfolio with her new husband and their “children”: two dogs and three cats!
As a new member to the Triangle Swim School, Ryanne is excited to be a part of the team. Swimming has always been important to her and she cannot wait to share that passion with others.

Coach Candice
Candice is originally from South Africa and has lived in the States for the past 10 years. She has a strong background in swimming for school and college teams. She has four years lifesaving experience in both fresh and seawater.
Candice is an elementary school teacher who currently stays home with her two beautiful children. She is passionate about children, learning, teaching, and swimming! Candice aims to create and foster swimming encounters with young children that will develop a lifelong love for the water.
